Eynesbury war memorial is in St Mary’s Churchyard on St Mary’s Street. It is a limestone cross and the plinth stands on a two-stepped base. The plinth has carved detailing as does the top of the cross. The dedicatory inscription for the memorial is set into the Church wall. The memorial is within the curtilage of Grade II* listed St Mary’s Church and is in a conservation area.
In 2010, a grant of £1,527 was offered through the Small Grants Scheme towards repair and conservation works. The memorial was cleaned with low pressure water and non-metallic brushes with friable areas cleaned only after assessment to prevent damage occurring. Stonework repairs were undertaken by indenting like-for-like stone. A biocide was applied to inhibit future organic growth. Finally, a limed based shelter coat was applied to the tracery panels to help conserve them.
